Anticipating The Xbox 360
Wednesday 30th Nov 2005 - Posted By: Ste Riley at 09:27PM
The confirmation came from GAME on Saturday in the post to say that they'll have my Xbox 360 waiting for me on launch day. 24 hours from now, I'll be in the pub waiting for the midnight launch hoping they've not screwed up on the stock numbers and I really will be able to get my hands on a machine.
Embarrassingly enough, word is getting around at work that I've booked the whole of next week off just to play on the Xbox. Maybe I should have kept that sad little detail to myself and claimed I was going off on a well deserved holiday.
I've been hammering PGR2 for the past 2 weeks trying to get a taste of what's to come, that game is still a top class title. Keep an eye on my gamer card come Friday to see if I really do manage to get a console.

Well I've finally moved to the ICT department at work on Miller Street, 7th Floor. The first day was pretty busy trying to sort out the BAU work that was flooding in and adjusting to the new environment.
It's going to be pretty weird for a while I think since I've become pretty used to working in mixed sex teams of 20 something's, to now being faced with an office of guys aged 40 and above.
One things for sure the free chocomilk goes down a treat and I'll probably make good use of the free canteen in the afternoon. Better watch out for them fatty foods though or I'll end up being a 20 stone man mountain.
sIFR: Rich Accessible Typography
Saturday 12th Nov 2005 - Posted By: Ste Riley at 01:27PM
I've noticed on a few sites recently that they've magically managed to embed none standards fonts into their web pages, Lealea Design being one of them. After a little bit of digging around I've found a new technique that has been developed by two blokes Mike Davidson and Mark Wubben.
By using a combination of Flash, JavaScript and CSS you can embed any font of the designers choice into your pages on top of that its totally accessible. Its not totally perfect put definitely worth implementing if you value typography on your site. Mike Davidson the developer of the sIFR 2.0 has given a full explanation of how this technique fully works and I recommend you go check it out.
SUPERLASH!

Today was all about one thing really, getting pissed. Work was going to be easy, we called time at half 12 and headed to the Rossetti hotel for a special team meeting. Being treated to free lunch and tea, along with free drinks to later in the evening, although we did have to endure half a day listening to a load of boring bollocks.
After work we was taken to the trendy NQR for some posh nosh, I went for the pigeon starter since I'd never had it before which was really good, you need to try it. Followed up by a more traditional plate of steak and chips.
John was also playing his first Manchester gig tonight with Duty Now at the Music Box, so a few of us went along from the office to show our support. Half cut we turned up and enjoyed the show, later on after the gig we met with John and went to Billy Rox to complete the SuperLash. We was pretty hammered by the end of it all, shame we have work tomorrow could have stayed out a lot later.
