Introducing My Gamer Card
Saturday 29th Oct 2005 - Posted By: Ste Riley at 02:21PM
I've just logged on to Xbox.com this afternoon and noticed they are offering the new Gamer Card feature ready for the launch of Xbox 360. Naturally I signed up and created my own Gamer Card, I was then given the option to add it to my site. As you can see it now appears on the left hand side of this page.
This thing should display how good I'm rated on Xbox Live once I start playing on the X360. As I've read it's similar to the feedback rating on eBay. So watch out for this little baby to light up come Friday 2nd December!
I'm now off to feed my Football Manager addiction for a while.
Wasted Weekend

I've just spent the last 3 days playing the new Football Manager 2006. I took on Oldham with hopes of taking them on the road to glory, everything went well and it took me till this morning to complete my first season.
Finding myself 6th place in the league I was in with a chance of promotion. Sadly I ended up loosing to Gillingham 4-0, I have now started the new season rock bottom of the table, 8 defeats in 10 games. I feel I should have done something more constructive with my time off now.
Career Change Ahead?

It was announced yesterday in work, that along with the other developers in the team I will be moved from the Web team to ICT so that we can develop the back-end JSP/CMS templates. However it appears all other web duties (accessibility, standards compliance, page validation etc) will have to be sacrificed come January to accommodate this. The team will be split in half, one existing as it is at the moment and the other (us) being in relocated to another site altogether. On the day to day maintenance of the sites the decisions made at present are totally impractical.
Worst still when the demand for Web work dries up between quiet periods we'll be moved on to work on ICT projects. Sorry but I don't want to work on none Web related projects, I wouldn't have applied for a Web developer job otherwise.
The whole team are seriously pissed about the situation and how it was announced. Not one team member has been consulted about how we felt about moving to another department whatsoever. 3 weeks time is the date pencilled in for the move, I'll update as things progress.

Well we had some shocking news at work today, they plan on splitting the Web team up and shipping all us developers off to CIS Tower to work with ICT. The hope being we'll be able to do wonderful things with the back end that we don't have access to at the moment. Nobody's give it a moments thought it seems though about how it'll effect the current process of work.
Enough of that for now though, today was meant to be about the big match. It was my 3rd visit to Old Trafford in nearly as many weeks. Although we'd already qualified on Saturday this was now all about pride and winning the group. We got the result that's what mattered most but, Sven-Göran Eriksson needs his head testing.
How can you substitute Sean Wright-Phillips for that lanky freak Peter Crouch (still to score this season), Phillips was flying down the wing on every available chance and clearly one of the best players on the pitch. Why is anyone surprised Crouch was booed as he come onto the field to replace Phillips. I feel the jeering was directed more towards another poor Sven substitution decision.
Another observation made from the stands is that Joe Cole is certainly no left sided player. On a number of occasions he drifted into the centre of the pitch leaving the left side totally open, limiting how the ball could be distributed around the field and vulnerable to an attack. Certainly still an area of concern heading into the World Cup.
